CHARLOTTE BOX LACROSSE ACADEMY
The Carolina Hammers & the UC Rattlesnakes are excited to partner up this Winter & Spring to launch the Charlotte Box Lacrosse Academy (CBLA), the ONLY REAL CANADIAN BOX instruction offered in the area. The CBLA aims to accelerate the overall lacrosse development of participating athletes in Charlotte the way that box has made Canadian Box Players some of the most talented player to ever step onto a lacrosse field and some of the most highly recruited players at the college level.
The CBLA curriculum and training will be designed/led by Canadian Box Players who have played true box lacrosse at some of the highest levels as well as Current College Coaches.
WHAT IS REAL CANADIAN BOX LACROSSE?

All Players use Short-Sticks (Allows for rapid development of stick skills for Offensive/Defensive Players as well as forces better defensive positioning)

In-tight spaces (Games feature 5v5 play and Improves catching/passing/finishing in-tight)
-
Boards (Ball never goes out of play…forces fast-pace play and maximizes touches)

Goalies have Larger Pads (Similar to Hockey) and Goals are Smaller (4x4) - Forces Pin-Point Accuracy when Finishing

Physicality & Intensity (Box allows for more physical play due to in-tight spaces and for more aggressive pick-play)
“If I had my choice, I would have every player under the age of 12 play box lacrosse exclusively or at least a majority of the time. The number of touches of the ball and the ability to develop better stick skills in a game of box lacrosse far surpasses what happens on a field. Learning how to pass and catch in traffic, understanding how to shoot, and developing a sense of physicality are all positive traits developed by the box game.”
